Omnibenevolence focussed initially on interventions & support for the homeless. However, having observed that across the globe it was young people from “Group Homes” who have a significantly higher risk of homelessness than any other group in society, it was decided that we needed to introduce a second initiative that sought to reduce that risk. Tackling one of the root causes of homelessness.
The model of financial support is unique in its structure and ultimate purpose and is intended to not only provide security of resource and stability of care but also to provide a long term framework that aims to ensure ground lost to more privileged peers is made up.
1. We support a complete home not an individual child.
2. We support a home (as a family unit) in perpetuity.
3. Support is subject to QA & anti-discrimination criteria being met.
4. Spending by homes is subject to quarterly review & annual audit.
Support is split into weekly & annual allowances per child at rates determined locally:
Weekly
Food
Clothes
Toys
Personal care
Weekly outing / Social activity
Annual:
Summer Holiday
Birthday celebration
In future Omnibenevolence intends to extend the initiative to include important life events, essentially empowering the home to act as the life long supportive family that children from group homes, through no fault of their own, lack. The particular emphasis of the “Life Events” support will be to provide boosts that enable children from “Group Homes” to make up ground on those from more privileged backgrounds.
